Western Shore Designs, specializes in handcrafted jewelry, primarily featuring polymer clay earrings. In addition, I design crystal and glass necklaces using lampwork beads sourced from talented artists across the United States and beyond. My journey in jewelry making began over 20 years ago with wire-wrapped pieces and cold connections. As my experience grew, I transitioned to working with polymer clay, which allows for unique color blends and memorable textures in each piece. My focus is on creating distinctive jewelry through the thoughtful use of color and texture.
Brand Inspiration
The name Western Shore Designs is inspired by my family’s heritage. My parents were born and raised on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay—my father in Wittman and my mother in Easton. Much of my family still resides in that region. My father, Sonny Keys, was a waterman before serving in the Army. After his service, he moved our family to the Western Shore, settling in Glen Burnie in the 1950s to seek new opportunities. My mother, Alice, supported the family by working in the local school system. The values of honesty and a strong work ethic, instilled by the Eastern Shore community, continue to influence my life and business. Growing up, weekends were spent on the shore, enjoying family gatherings and the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay and local farms. This heritage is reflected in Western Shore Designs, which celebrates the hardworking people of the region and the unique culture of the Chesapeake Bay.
